Daisha Muhammad, Director of Mediation
Daisha Muhammad joins the Civilian Office for Police Accountability as the Director of Mediation. She comes to COPA with a twenty-year career working with multiple jurisdictions of the Criminal Justice System and the Non-Profit sector. Her career tenure includes work in State Courts, Public Safety and Corrections. Daisha’s true passion for public safety, derives from her desire to be a change agent in law enforcement reform and systemic equality for all community stakeholders.
Daisha began her career in Cincinnati, Ohio working with the Hamilton County Courts, Common Pleas Division in a bond expedition program. She went on to work for the Florida Department of Corrections, community supervision and re-entry services, overseeing specialized caseloads which included Pretrial Intervention, Drug Court and Electronically Monitored Home Detention. She was also certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in instructor techniques where she co-facilitated annual in-service officer trainings. She worked with the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) as the Regional Associate Director for Law Enforcement Programs and Engagement, where she managed and facilitated a suite of specialized law enforcement trainings including Managing Implicit Bias, Introduction to Hate Crimes and Violent Extremisms 101 for law enforcement agencies throughout the Midwest Region. From there, Daisha joined the Mayor’s Office for Public Safety (now Mayor’s Office for Community Safety) as a policy advisor with a focus on Consent Decree paragraph management and compliance and providing project support for the Policing pillar of the People’s Plan for Community Safety.
Daisha attended the University of Cincinnati, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Technologies and the University of North Florida where she received a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her family, roller skating and writing poetry.
