Jennifer Rottner, Director of News Affairs

Jennifer Rottner Headshot

Jennifer Rottner has been with COPA since 2019 and is an experienced communications professional with a demonstrated history of working in public relations, events and communications for the City of Chicago and State of Illinois, including the City and State’s top political figures, advocates, and organizations in the fields of public safety, social services, and education. Her time working in Communications for Chicago Public Schools, News Affairs for the Chicago Police Department and now as Director of News Affairs for the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) has been the cornerstone of her career in media relations, crisis communications, as well as event logistics and social media.

Jennifer’s passion and interest in public safety started at an early age, growing up in the West Rogers Park Neighborhood of Chicago, as well as her father’s nearly 40-year career in law enforcement before his retirement. She brings a unique perspective on public safety from both sides, which only fuels her passion for the need and commitment to police accountability.

Jennifer is a proud graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, enjoys spending time with her family and friends and taking as many Pilates classes as her schedule allows.
