Marci Jacobs, Supervising Investigator
Marci Jacobs joined COPA as a Supervising Investigator with over 30 years’ experience in the criminal justice system. She recently retired from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office as an Assistant State’s Attorney where she prosecuted hundreds of felony cases including shootings and domestic violence; and litigated innumerable motions alleging search and seizure violations, coercion, and other types of police misconduct. Ms. Jacobs gained investigative experience in the Felony-Review unit where she determined whether police departments investigating crimes had enough evidence to support criminal charges. Ms. Jacobs ultimately specialized in appellate practice and routinely argued before the Illinois Appellate and Supreme Courts. She supervised and mentored junior attorneys and taught Continuing Legal Education programs for fellow prosecutors in Cook County and around the State.
Ms. Jacobs also taught legal writing as an adjunct professor at DePaul University School of Law.
Ms. Jacobs earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Business Administration from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law- Chicago.
