Mack Thurman, Manager of Legislative Affairs

Mackenzie Thurman is a strategic public affairs and policy leader with extensive experience operating at the intersection of government, data, and executive decision making. He currently serves as Manager of Legislative Affairs and Senior Policy Analyst for the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, where he advises executive leadership on legislative strategy, stakeholder engagement, and operational performance.

Throughout his career, Thurman has worked closely with elected officials, senior administrators, and community stakeholders to advance complex policy initiatives, strengthen transparency, and improve organizational effectiveness. He leads data driven reporting and evaluation efforts, oversees cross functional initiatives, and develops performance frameworks that support informed decision making at the highest levels.

Previously, he served as Director of Communications and Policy for a member of the Chicago City Council, where he managed the office’s legislative portfolio, led large scale infrastructure and economic development initiatives, and directed public engagement strategy.

Thurman earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Missouri, with a focus in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution and a minor in Leadership and Public Service. Outside of work, he is a dedicated Chicago Bears fan and enjoys spending summers along the Chicago lakefront.
