Matthew Jones, Chief Investigative Law Officer

Matthew Jones is the Chief Investigative Law Officer at COPA. Matt works closely with COPA investigative staff and advises on legal issues related to investigations. Matt joined COPA in 2022 as an investigator and then served as a staff attorney. Prior to COPA, Matt worked in private practice at an immigration firm, and as a trial attorney with the Wisconsin State Public Defender in Kenosha. There, Matt represented clients in a wide range of cases, including multiple homicides, other felonies and misdemeanors, civil commitments, and terminations of parental rights. Matt received his J.D. from The University of Iowa College of Law, and his B.A. in Politics from Drake University. Matt also currently serves in the Army Reserve and previously served in the Army National Guard.
