    COPA will be a guest speaker at the NAACP Political Action Committee Meeting. The Political Action Committee researches and initiates legislation that deals with the Game Changers and educates NAACP members of pending and active legislation that affect the political, educational, social, and economic interests of minorities.

  • Bridging the Gap Between Law Enforcement & The Community

    The Chicago Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presents a panel discussion on ways law enforcement and the community can work together to have a better relationship and safer communities. Elected officials, community leaders and organizations are invited. CPD Commander Kevin Johnson of the 11TH Chicago Police District will be on hand as guest panelists. This event is in partnership with the Salvation Army Freedom Center, and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executive. Various topics will be discussed including local policing tactics and new technology; prevention and community based intervention programs; and community policing partnerships. This event is open to the public.

  • Cook County State’s Attorney Kimberly M. Foxx’s 28th Annual C.F. Stradford Awards Ceremony

    In recognition of African American History Month, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx along with members of the office’s African American Advisory Council presented the C.F. Stradford Award to two individuals who have made contributions to the African American community through their professional lives. The C.F. Stradford Award is named for Cornelius Francis Stradford, a pioneer in the legal community and co-founder of the Cook County Bar Association and the National Bar Association. This event is open to the public with RSVP.

  • Hyde Park Community Action Councils (CACs)

    Hyde Park Community Action Council (CAC) is hosting a meeting on Wednesday, February 28TH at 6PM at Dyett High School. There are several CACs across Chicago. Each works to empower the community they serve to lead the improvement of local quality education. CAC members include parents; elected officials; faith-based institutions, health care and community-based organizations; Local School Council (LSC) members; business leaders; educators and school administrators; staff members from Chicago’s Sister Agencies; community residents; and students. This event is open to the public.
