COPA RESTRICTED FROM RELEASING VIDEO ON OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 8300 S. COTTAGE GROVE

Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) posted to its website (https://www.chicagocopa.org/case/2020-3612/) a court order restricting the release of video and other materials in the officer-involved shooting that took place near 8300 S. Cottage Grove on August 7, 2020.

Pursuant to a court order entered on September 18, 2020, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability and all other city entities are currently prohibited from releasing materials relative to this incident under the Video Release Policy or Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) during the pendency of the criminal matter.

COPA remains committed to transparency and conducting a full investigation into the officer’s use of force to determine if they were in accordance with Department policy and training.
