COPA RELEASES VIDEO & OTHER MATERIALS RELATED TO OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 5900 S. HALSTED

 

Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released video and other materials related to an officer-involved shooting that occurred near 5900 S. Halsted. COPA investigators immediately responded to the scene and began their investigation.

On December 24, 2022, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) notified COPA of an officer-involved shooting near 5900 S. Halsted. Based on preliminary information, the initial incident began when two officers were driving southbound on Halsted, approaching the intersection at 59th Street. Officers heard multiple gunshots nearby and observed an individual fire a weapon into a vehicle and attempted to flee the scene.

One of the officers exited the police vehicle and discharged their weapon at the subject. After a brief vehicle pursuit, three individuals fled the scene on foot. The involved individuals have not been identified or apprehended.
