COPA RELEASES VIDEO & OTHER MATERIALS RELATED TO AN OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 1800 N. MONTICELLO

Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released video and other materials related to an officer-involved shooting that occurred near 1800 N. Monticello. COPA investigators immediately responded to the scene and began their investigation.

On November 1, 2022, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) notified COPA of an officer-involved shooting near 1800 N. Monticello. Based on preliminary information, the incident began officers observed a robbery in progress outside a police facility.

Officers were working at a police facility (Mayor’s Detail and Command Center) and heard an individual yelling for help outside. When officers responded to the commotion, they observed three subjects engaged in a robbery nearby. One of the suspects fired a weapon in the direction of the officers, who then returned fire. Once the three subjects were inside the vehicle and fleeing the scene, one of the subjects fired in the direction of officers, who both returned fire. It is unknown if any of the subjects were struck by police gunfire.
