COPA RELEASES VIDEO & OTHER MATERIALS OF OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 4500 SOUTH DREXEL BOULEVARD

CHICAGO – Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released video and other materials of the officer-involved shooting which occurred on July 25, 2021, near the 4500 Block of South Drexel Boulevard.

Chicago Police Officers initiated a traffic stop which led to the passenger exiting the vehicle. A foot pursuit ensued and following a brief chase, the passenger of the vehicle discharged a firearm in the direction of the pursuing officer. The officer returned fire, striking the individual who was taken into custody and received medical attention.

Materials released today, in accordance with the City of Chicago’s Video Release Policy, include body-worn and third-party video, OEMC transmissions, ShotSpotter Recordings, Case Incident and Tactical Response, which can be viewed by visiting https://www.chicagocopa.org/case/2021-2862.
