COPA RELEASES VIDEO & OTHER MATERIALS OF AN OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 8300 S. KERFOOT AVENUE

Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released video and other materials of the officer-involved shooting which occurred on June 9, 2021, near 8300 S. Kerfoot Avenue.

Shortly after midnight, the Chicago Police Department received reports of shots fired near 8300 S. Kerfoot Ave through Shotspotter alerts and 911 calls. Officers responding to the call also heard gunshots and located the individual suspected of firing the weapon. After verbally requesting the individual to drop the weapon, an officer fired his weapon in the direction of the suspect who then fled. Officers pursued the individual leading to a standoff with SWAT in an area residence but the suspect was not located. It is unknown if the individual was struck by police gunfire. No officers or members of the public sustained any known injuries.
