COPA RELEASES VIDEO & MATERIALS OF OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 4900 SOUTH LAKE SHORE DRIVE

Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released video and other materials of the officer-involved shooting which took place on August 28, 2020, near the 4900 Block of South Lake Shore Drive’s inner drive.

Officers were responding to a call of a stolen vehicle. While in the area, officers located a vehicle matching the description and attempted to apprehend the suspects. As officers exited their vehicles, the driver of the stolen vehicle struck one of the officers resulting in the officer discharging his firearm.

The occupants of the stolen vehicle are not known, and the vehicle was later recovered. There were no reported injuries.
