COPA Releases Summary Report and Findings regarding Chicago Police Department Raid of Ms. Anjanette Young’s Residence

Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released its Summary Report of Investigation detailing its findings and recommendations regarding the February 2019 raid at Ms. Anjanette Young’s home. In advance of today’s release, COPA leadership met with Ms. Young and her attorney, Keenan Saulter to review the report.

The report published today provides a full and detailed analysis of the incident, findings, and discipline recommendations. “Public trust begins with transparency, accountability and confidence in COPA to investigate allegations of police misconduct and determine if officers’ actions are in accordance with Department policy and training,” said Interim Chief Administrator Andrea Kersten. “We take pride in the thoroughness, objectivity and integrity of our investigation and it is our hope that the release of the Summary Report of Investigation provides further closure to Ms. Young as well as answers to the public regarding our investigative conclusions.”

COPA concluded its investigation in April 2021 and forwarded its findings and recommendations to the Superintendent for review, which resulted in officers with sustained allegations being served with administrative charges. The full report can be found on COPA’s website by visiting: https://www.chicagocopa.org/case-summaries/log2019-0004600/.
