COPA PROVIDES UPDATE ON OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 3800 W. FLOURNOY

“Today the Civilian Office of Police Accountability responded to an officer-involved shooting located near 3800 W. Flournoy. Based on preliminary information, a Chicago Police Officer discharged their firearm, fatally striking an individual. COPA can confirm portions of the incident are captured on body worn camera,” said First Deputy Chief Administrator Ephraim Eaddy.

“COPA is responsible for investigating all officer-involved shootings as determined by municipal ordinance. The details of this incident will be released in an updated statement within the next 48 hours. We ask for patience from the community as COPA determines the facts and evidence related to this incident and determines if the officers’ actions are in accordance with Department policy and training. COPA has a responsibility to release video and materials, according to the city’s video release policy, within 60 days of the incident.”
