COPA Provides Update On Officer-Involved Shooting Near 11400 S. Davol

COPA PROVIDES UPDATE ON OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 11400 S. DAVOL STREET

Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is providing an update regarding an officer-involved shooting that occurred near 11400 S Davol. COPA investigators immediately responded to the scene and began the investigation.

On December 7, 2025, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) notified COPA of an officer-involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates this incident began when two CPD officers responded to a call for a person with a gun. The officers entered the residence and encountered multiple people fighting on the floor near the front door. As the officers attempted to separate the individuals, they observed one of the individuals on the floor turn towards them. The officers then heard a gunshot, and one of the officers was struck in the chest area, in their protective vest. Subsequently, the second officer fired their weapon, striking the individual who was initially reported as having a weapon and inadvertently striking a second individual. The officer who was shot was taken to the hospital and subsequently discharged. Both individuals shot were also taken to area hospitals in fair condition. A weapon was recovered on scene.

COPA can confirm body-worn cameras captures the initial interaction and subsequent shooting. Materials related to this incident will be posted to our website in accordance with the City’s Video Release Policy within 60 days of the incident unless prohibited by court order.
