COPA RELEASES MATERIALS RELATED TO FATAL OFF-DUTY OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 8500 WEST WINONA STREET

CHICAGO – Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released materials related to an officer-involved shooting which occurred on November 2, 2021, near the 8500 Block of West Winona Street in accordance with the City’s 60-day Video Release Policy.

Chicago Police Officers responded to a call related to a domestic disturbance near 8500 West Winona Street. Upon arrival, responding officers learned both individuals, who were off duty at the time were married and members of the Chicago Police Department.

Early reports indicate a struggle over a gun that discharged resulting in Officer Jacqueline Villasenor fatally shooting Officer German Villasenor. Officer Jacqueline Villasenor has since been charged criminally.
