State Of Chicago Youth Town Hall

COPA will join Mikva Challenge and A Better Chicago to participate in the State of Chicago Youth virtual town hall taking place August 19th from 11:30AM-1PM. This event will focus on five major issue areas: health, education, juvenile justice, housing, and safety/policing.

Public Meeting of the Police Board

The Superintendent of Police (or his designee) and the Chief Administrator of the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (or her designee) will be at the meetings. Members of the public are invited to attend and are welcome to address questions or comments to the Board. 49th Ward Alderwoman Maria Hadden Town Hall

COPA will speak at the 49th Ward Virtual Town Hall where Public Information Officer, Ephraim Eaddy will discuss the importance of police accountability. Attendees will also learn about COPA’s investigative process, outcomes from its investigations and how the public can help report police misconduct.

City Council Committee on Public Safety Meeting

The City Council Committee on Public Safety is holding a meeting on August 24th. The committee has jurisdiction over all matters relating to the Police Department, the Fire Department, the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, and matters affecting emergency city services generally (other than operation of emergency medical facilities), except those matters affecting collective bargaining agreements, employee benefits and pensions.

39th Ward Ald. Samantha Nugent Virtual Community Meeting

COPA will speak at the 39th Ward Virtual Community Meeting hosted by Alderwoman Samantha Nugent. During this virtual event, COPA will explain its agency investigative process, discuss the importance of police accountability, and share with constituents in this ward how they can report police misconduct. Additional speakers for this event includes representatives from the 39th ward office and Deborah Witzburg, Deputy Inspector General for Public Safety.

Washburn University School of Law COPA Presentation

COPA will participate in a virtual event with students a part of the Criminal Law Society at Washburn School of Law on October 13th. During the event, COPA will explain the agency investigative process and share the importance of police oversight.
