COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 05.04.26. This week our Public Affairs team was in the Hyde Park, Austin, and Gage Park communities.
Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Ray Elementary Career Day – May 4, 2026
The COPA public affairs team spent the morning at Ray Elementary School Career Day. The career day allowed students to explore various future career opportunities and paths. This career day was unique in that the public affairs team presented in Spanish to their dual language learners. Our team was able to connect with several young minds and share insight in our work while encouraging their educational growth.

Westside Ministers Coalition Monthly Community Meeting – May 7, 2026
COPA was in Austin at the monthly Westside Ministers Coalition community meeting. One of the primary purposes of the meeting is to tackle various social issues & discuss ways attendees can bring about a positive change throughout the city. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on our role in police accountability and how to file compliments & complaints towards CPD.

COPA at Chicago Public Library – Gage Park Branch – May 9, 2026
COPA had a great time at the Chicago Public Library, Gage Park Branch. The Gage Park branch has ongoing activities and groups accessible to the entire community including a afterschool activities, several story times, and adult creative hours. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police oversight.
