COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 08.03.26. This week our Public Affairs team was in Belmont Cragin, Englewood, Humboldt Park, and New City, Chatham, North Lawndale, Logan Square, and West Town communities.
Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Boulevard Insurance Services Wicker Park Resource Fair – August 4, 2026
COPA had a great time attending the Northwest Community Alliance Monthly Meeting hosted at Metropolitan Family Services in the Portage Park community. Our agency was able to meet with various not-for-profit organizations to discuss community resources that can be offered to Latino communities on the Northwest side of Chicago. During the meeting COPA also shared with meeting attendees the role that we play in police oversight.
National Night Out 6th, 11th, and 14th District – August 4, 2026
COPA Chief Administrator LaKenya White and COPA staff had a great time at the Chicago Police Department 6th, 11th, and 14th District National Night Out events throughout Chicago. National Night Out is a national community building movement to enhance the relationship between community members and law enforcement. These events brought together several community organizations to connect families & young people to resources, various children’s activities, fresh produce, food, live performances, and school supply giveaways. COPA set up a table to provide information about our role in police accountability and how to file complaints and compliments towards CPD.
Alderwoman in the Park at Edmonds Molly Park – August 6, 2024
COPA had a great time attending Alderwoman in the Park at Edmonds Molly Park hosted by Alderwoman Stephanie D. Coleman. This event organized by Alderwoman Coleman works to bring city services and other community resources directly to the community. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on how to file complaints or compliments towards CPD.
New Life Centers Beloved Community Bash – August 7, 2026
COPA attended the New Life Centers Beloved Community Bash in the Humboldt Park community. The bash aims to bring safe spaces for young people and community to enjoy activities, food, and connect to local resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police accountability.
Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council Back to School Health Fair – August 8, 2026
COPA had a great time at the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council Back to School Health Fair in the New City community. The fair included health screenings, food, fresh produce, children’s activities, school supply giveaways, and several community organizations that were giving our information on available resources.
