COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 06.09.25. This week our Public Affairs team was in the Austin, East Garfield Park, Humboldt Park, Loop, and West Englewood communities.
Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Leaders Network Monthly Community Meeting – June 10, 2025
COPA attended the Leaders Network Community Monthly Meeting held in the Austin community that was comprised of faith and community leaders that work together to organize, strategize, and mobilize to improve the quality of life for the west side communities. This meeting included information and a celebration of Juneteenth. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on how to file complaints or compliments towards CPD.

Garfield Park Bingo with Oak Street Health – June 12, 2025
COPA Joined Oak Street health at their East Garfield Park location to play bingo with some of their engaged seniors. This event combined a fun game and brough together community resources for the senior to gain valuable information and connect to local organizations. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on filing complaints and compliments towards CPD.

Beloved Community Bash – June 12, 2025
COPA attend the New Life Centers Beloved Community Bash in the Humboldt Park community. The bash aims to bring safe spaces for young people and community to enjoy activities, food, and connect to local resources. Alees Edwards 11th District Police Councilor stopped by our table and was on sight connecting with community and learning of the many available resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police accountability.

Mr. Dad’s Father’s Day March 2025 Block Party – June 14, 2025
COPA had a great time attending the Mr. Dad’s Father’s Day March 2025 Block Part in the West Englewood community. This event celebrates the community on Father’s Day weekend by creating a safe space that included activities, giveaways, food, raffles, and bringing together several community resources. Alderwoman Stephanie D. Coleman was in attendance and stopped by to visit our Public Affairs team. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on filing complaints and compliments towards CPD.
