Weekly Spotlight: Interim Chief Administrator LaKenya White presents at CCPSA Meeting and more

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 12.08.25. This week our Public Affairs team was in the Austin, East Garfield Park, and Fuller Park communities.

Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Leaders Network Monthly Community Meeting December 09, 2025

COPA attended the Leaders Network Community Monthly Meeting held in the Austin community that was comprised of faith and community leaders that work together to organize, strategize, and mobilize to improve the quality of life for the west side communities. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on how to file complaints or compliments towards CPD.

UI Health Winter Partnership Social – December 11, 2025

COPA had a great time attending the UI Health Partnership Social at the Columbus Park Refectory. This event brought together UI Health community partners to review the 2025 year of success as well as a glimpse into what was to come in 2026. It also gave community partners an opportunity to network with community leaders from across the city. COPA attended UI Health social to connect with various community partners and to continue to engage UI Health, our valued community partner.

Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) Monthly Meeting – December 11, 2025
COPA Interim Chief Administrator LaKenya White, CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling, and Police Board President Kyle Cooper presented at the monthly meeting of the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) at the JLM Abundant Life Center. Interim Chief Administrator White gave updates on the COPA 2025 goals and set out a strategic outline for our agency to accomplish our 2026 goals.

Chicago Defender and City Motivators Home for the Holidays: A Southside Celebration – December 13, 2025

COPA had a fantastic time at the Chicago Defender and City Motivators Home for the Holidays: A Southside Celebration event at Fuller Park. The event was able to give over 1500 families toys and coats ahead of the holiday season. The event also included a resource fair with local community organizations providing information on programming. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police accountability.
