COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 07.28.25. This week our Public Affairs team was in West Englewood, Austin, East Garfield Park, Lincoln Square, and Lower West Side communities.
Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Alderwoman in the Park at Lindblom Park – July 28, 2024
COPA had a great time attending Alderwoman in the Park at Oakley Park hosted by Alderwoman Stephanie D. Coleman. This event organized by Alderwoman Coleman works to bring city services and other community resources directly to the community. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on how to file complaints or compliments towards CPD.

Chicago Public Schools Back to School Bash at Columbus Park – July 29, 2025
COPA had a great time at the Chicago Public Schools Back to School Bash in the Austin community. The bash included school supply giveaways, food, fun activities, and community organizations providing information on local programming. COPA was able to set up a table and share our role in police accountability.

Chicago Public Schools Back to School Bash at Amundsen High School – July 30, 2025
COPA had a great time at the Chicago Public Schools Back to School Bash at Amundsen High School. The rain didn’t stop the bash which included ice cream, snacks, and school supply giveaways. COPA was able to greet the long line of families and distribute supplies, while giving out information about our role in police accountability.
Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) Monthly Meeting – July 31, 2025
COPA attended the monthly meeting of the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) at the JLM Abundant Life Center in the East Garfield Park community. CCPSA holds a monthly community meeting to discuss updates to its agency and address concerns the public may have as it relates to affairs with CPD, Police Board and COPA.

Fiest del Sol – August 3, 2025
COPA joined the Latino First Responder Alliance at the Fiesta del Sol cooling tent in the Lower West Side community. Fiesta del Sol is the largest free Latino fest of its kind in the US. COPA was able to keep fest attendees cool while giving out information on how to file complaints and compliments towards CPD.
