COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 09.22.25. This week our Public Affairs team was in Jefferson Park, Near West Side, Avondale, Belmont Cragin, and Chicago Lawn communities.
Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Jefferson Park Narcan Machine Installation Press Conference & Resource Fair – September 22, 2025
COPA had a great time attending the Jefferson Park Narcan Machine Installation Press Conference & Resource fair organized by Lutheran Social Services of Illinois. The event showcased the new Narcan machine installed at the Jefferson Blue Line Stop of the Chicago Transit Authority and included a resource fair with local organizations giving out resources. COPA was able to set up a table and give out information on our how to file complaints and compliments for CPD.

Fall Citywide Career Fair – September 24, 2025
COPA co-sponsored a Citywide Career Fair with several other City of Chicago Agencies and Community Partners at Malcolm X College in the Near West Side community. The career fair drew in over 400 community members where over 50 employers were sharing their career opportunities. Several workforce development and community organizations with resources were also onsite to support job seekers with employment support services. COPA Interim Chief Administrator LaKenya White, joined us to engage employers and participants. COPA was not only an organizer of the career fair, but we also set up a resource table to provide information on our agency and our role in police accountability.

Northwest Community Alliance Meeting – September 25, 2025
COPA had a great time attending the Northwest Community Alliance Monthly Meeting hosted at Centro San Bonifacio in the Avondale community. Our agency was able to meet with various not-for-profit organizations to discuss community resources that can be offered to Latino communities on the Northwest side of Chicago. During the meeting COPA also shared with meeting attendees the role that we play in police oversight.

Northwest Center Youth Advisory Council Meeting – September 25, 2025
COPA had a productive time attending the Northwest Center Youth Advisory Council Meeting in the Belmont Cragin community. This meeting brings youth leaders together that are proactively working to create safe spaces, events, and resources to young people and the northwest side communities. COPA attends these meetings to connect with youth leaders and to give out information on our role in police accountability.

Acero Schools Community Partner Cafecito Convening – September 26, 2025
COPA had an amazing time at the Acero Schools Community Partner Cafecito Convening in the Chicago Lawn community. The convening included important community updates and resources along with ways in which Acero can create partnerships. COPA attended this meeting to give out information on how to file complaints and compliments for CPD.
