COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 12.15.25. This week our Public Affairs team was in the Near West Side, Loop, Humboldt Park, Belmont Cragin, and West Town communities.
Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Aetna Community Baby Shower December 15, 2025
COPA had a great time attending the Aetna Community Baby Shower at the Chicago Center for Arts & Technology. This event brought together a group of parents to be so they could receive information on local resources, free giveaways, and baby shower games with prizes! COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments for CPD.

Nobel Neighbors Monthly Community Meeting – December 16, 2025
COPA had a great time attending the Nobel Neighbors Community Meeting in the Humboldt Park community. Nobel Neighbors holds its meetings at various community organizations on the West side. This meeting was held at the By the Hand Clubs for Kids; its focus was to address the various issues impacting residents and to find proactive solutions. Several community organizations and local official representatives attend this meeting to give information on resources and community updates. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on our role in police accountability.

CICS West Belden Books for Breakfast Event – December 17, 2025
COPA had a great time at the CICS West Belden Books for Breakfast event in the Belmont Cragin community. Our community partner CICS West Belden invited us alongside local community members & leaders to a day of reading to different classes throughout the day. The events focus is to encourage reading for its students in a bilingual multicultural environment. COPA was able to read bilingual stories to 4 different classrooms ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade.

COPA Service Committee Coat Drive – December 18, 2025
The COPA Service Committee organized a coat drive for Bennett Elementary in the Roseland community. Thanks to the generous donation of COPA staff, we were able to collect over 100 coats for distribution at Bennett. Interim Chief Administrator LaKenya White joined members of the service committee to drop off the coats and get a glimpse of their annual holiday concert. Special shout out to COPA Service Committee members Sharane Short, Darren Bowens, Shykela Carter, Will Neal, & Ralph Meneghetti for organizing the coat drive and their dedication to service for the Bennett Elementary community.

Santa & Smores – December 20, 2025
COPA had a great time attending the Santa & Smores with Alderman Gilberto Villegas and the Commercial Park Advisory Council in the West Town community. The event included pictures with Santa, activities, smores, story time, and snacks. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our role in police accountability.
