COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 08.24.26. This week our Public Affairs team was in the Belmont Cragin and Englewood communities.
Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Northwest Community Alliance Monthly Meeting – August 27, 2026
COPA had a great time attending the Northwest Community Alliance Monthly Meeting hosted at Metropolitan Family Services in the Portage Park community. Our agency was able to meet with various not-for-profit organizations to discuss community resources that can be offered to Latino communities on the Northwest side of Chicago. During the meeting COPA also shared with meeting attendees the role that we play in police oversight.
Alderwoman in the Park at Oakley Park – August 27, 2026
COPA had a great time attending Alderwoman in the Park at Moran Park hosted by Alderwoman Stephanie D. Coleman. This event organized by Alderwoman Coleman works to bring city services and other community resources directly to the community. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on how to file complaints or compliments towards CPD.
Family Focus Resource Fair – August 28, 2026
COPA had a great time at the Family Focus Resource Fair in the Belmont Cragin community. The fair included health screenings, haircuts, food, and several community organizations providing info on local programming. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give information on our role in police accountability.
Belmont Cragin Youth Jam – August 29, 2025
COPA had a great time at the Northwest Center (NWC) Belmont Cragin Youth Jam at Riis Park. NWC brought together several community organizations to connect families & young people to resources, had various children’s activities, Zumba, a video game truck, a meal, and raffle giveaways. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file compliments or complaints towards CPD.
