COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 07.07.25. This week our Public Affairs team was in the Austin, Chicago Lawn, Loop, Humboldt Park, and Belmont Cragin communities.
Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Leaders Network Monthly Community Meeting July 8, 2024
COPA attended the Leaders Network Community Monthly Meeting held in the Austin community that was comprised of faith and community leaders that work together to organize, strategize, and mobilize to improve the quality of life for the west side communities. This meeting included updates on recent federal law changes and their impact on communities. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on how to file complaints or compliments towards CPD.
Bingo at DFSS Southwest Regional Senior Center – July 9, 2025
COPA had a great time hosting Bingo at the Department of Family and Support Services Southwest Regional Senior Center. This lively group of seniors is always excited to welcome us for a chance to win a prize and be in community. COPA hosts bingo and is also able to set up a table to give out information about our role in police accountability.

2025 Mayor’s Budget Engagement Youth Round Table at Harold Washington Library– July 9, 2025
The Office of Mayor Brandon Johnson and Chicago’s Office of Budget and Management organized a series of Budget Engagement Forums across the City to listen to residents about their priorities and ideas for Chicago’s 2026 budget. On Wednesday, July 9th COPA’s Interim Chief Administrator LaKenya White was joined by Mayor Brandon Johnson and together facilitated dialogue with hundreds of young people from various communities of Chicago and let their voices be heard on how to prioritize city resources in the 2026 budget.

COPA at the Daley Plaza Famers Market – July 10, 2025
COPA had a great time at the Daley Plaza Famers Market in the Loop community. This event brings local vendors with produce, treats, and products in a lively fun environment. COPA was able to set up a table and give out information on our role in police oversight.
Beloved Community Bash – July 11, 2025
COPA attend the New Life Centers Beloved Community Bash at the Monticello Block Club in the Humboldt Park community. The bash aims to bring safe spaces for young people and community to enjoy activities, food, and connect to local resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments towards CPD.

Belmont Cragin Youth Jam – July 12, 2025
COPA had a great time at the Northwest Center (NWC) Belmont Cragin Youth Jam at Riis Park. NWC brought together several community organizations to connect families & young people to resources, had various children’s activities, Zumba, a video game truck, taco meals, and raffle giveaways. COPA gave our information on how to file compliments or complaints towards CPD.
