COPA RELEASES VIDEO & OTHER MATERIALS RELATED TO FATAL OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 4200 W. FORD CITY DR.

CHICAGO – Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released video and other materials pertaining a fatal officer-involved shooting by a member of Chicago Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) near 4200 W. Ford City Drive, in accordance and in advance of the City’s 60-day Video Release policy.

On April 3, 2022, members of the Department responded to a call of a domestic disturbance. Officers entered the residence and found an adult female wounded on the floor. Officers engaged the suspect with verbal commands which resulted in the suspect discharging a firearm at the responding officers.

Members of the Chicago Police Department SWAT team were notified and after a series of conversations, the suspect engaged members of the Department’s SWAT team which resulted in a SWAT officer firing his weapon, fatally striking the suspect. A weapon was recovered at the scene.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and once concluded, COPA will release the Summary Report of Investigation in accordance with Municipal Ordinance.
