COPA RELEASES VIDEO & OTHER MATERIALS FROM OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 2900 W. ADDISON STREET
Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is releasing video and other materials related to an officer-involved shooting that occurred near 2900 W. Addison Street. COPA investigators immediately responded to the scene and began the investigation.
On August 7, 2025, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) notified COPA of an officer-involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates this incident when CPD officers observed multiple individuals burglarizing a business. The individuals then entered a sedan and SUV, and while attempting to flee, an officer was struck by one of the vehicles. As the officer was struck by the vehicle, the officer discharged their firearm.
Responding officers pursued the individuals who fled the scene. There are no reports of anyone being struck by gunfire. The officer who was struck during the initial pursuit was taken to the hospital in good condition. No officers were injured in the vehicle pursuit. No one is in custody.
