COPA RELEASES VIDEO & OTHER MATERIALS FROM OFF-DUTY OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 100 E. 57th ST
Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is releasing video and other materials related to an off-duty officer-involved shooting near 100 E. 57th St. COPA investigators responded to the scene immediately and commenced an investigation.
On November 24, 2024, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) notified COPA of an off-duty officer-involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates this incident began when an off-duty CPD officer was attempting to enter a building and observed an individual approaching, pointing a firearm in their direction. The off-duty officer produced a firearm, and an exchange of gunfire ensued. The off-duty officer was not struck by gunfire.
COPA serves as the designated agency for the City of Chicago authorized to release video and other materials per the Consent Decree and the City’s Video Release Policy.
