COPA RELEASES MATERIALS OF OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 1500 N. LARAMIE AVENUE

Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released video and other materials of the officer-involved shooting that took place on December 18, 2020, near the 1500 Block of North Laramie Avenue.

Chicago Police Officers were in their vehicle on patrol and witnessed an altercation between two men. One of the men involved in the altercation, who at the time was driving his vehicle, drove at a high rate of speed nearly striking the other individual, who is not known at this time. The vehicle crashed and the unknown individual fired a weapon into the vehicle striking the driver. During the incident, a CPD officer discharged his weapon in the direction of the unknown individual who fled from the scene. It is not known if the unknown individual sustained any injuries and currently remains at large. The driver of the vehicle was transported to Stroger Hospital where he would later succumb to his injuries.
