COPA PROVIDES UPDATE ON OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING AT 11538 S WENTWORTH 

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place at 11538 S. Wentworth on Saturday, September 12th, 2020.

Initial information indicates officers responded to a call of shots fired within a residence at the above address. As officers approached to assess the scene, shots were fired from inside the residence, causing officers to return fire. Neither the individual or officers were injured, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident shortly thereafter.

COPA investigators responded to the scene and are actively working to obtain all relevant body worn and third-party video, as well as other materials related to the shooting, which will be released to the public no later than 60 days from the incident as part of COPA’s commitment to transparency and in accordance with the city’s video release policy.
