COPA PROVIDES UPDATE ON FATAL OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 900 E. 100th ST

Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is providing an update regarding a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred near 900 E. 100th Street. COPA investigators immediately responded to the scene and began the investigation.

On March 20, 2025, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) notified COPA of an officer-involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates this incident began when CPD officers responded to a domestic-related call. As officers entered a residence, one of the officers encountered an armed individual and victim inside a bedroom. As the victim fled the room, the armed individual pointed a firearm in the direction of the officer. The officer discharged their weapon, striking the individual. The individual was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment, as well as one officer for observation. A gun was recovered on scene.

COPA can confirm body-worn camera captures the initial interaction and subsequent shooting. Materials related to this incident will be posted to our website in accordance with the City’s Video Release Policy within 60 days of the incident unless prohibited by court order.
