UIC College of Urban Planning will be joined by COPA’s Public Affairs team at the University of Illinois at Chicago. COPA will visit and share information about the agency, its jurisdiction and the complaint process. A COPA staff attorney will make a presentation and Public Affairs will assist in answering questions. This is a closed event.

COPA will join faith-based leaders, block clubs, stakeholders and police to assist with strategizing and implementing solutions to address chronicle crime and disorderly issues that affect the Austin community.

COPA staff will visit Farragut High School to share with students the importance and history of civilian oversight, COPA’s investigative process and community engagement.  This event is closed.

COPA will be visiting TASC-Chatham parole office to participate in a meeting and join a dialogue on how to help returning citizens overcome barriers to re-entry, building capacity through networking with local and state community constituents and leaders, and communicate with other fellow TASC partnering agencies.

COPA will be present at the 14th District Beat meeting to engage with residents and police in this area.

COPA will participate and present in the spring session of the Citizen's Police Academy. The Citizen's Police Academy is a department-wide strategy designed to educate the community on police operations, build community trust, and improve engagement efforts through Department-led training and discussion.

COPA will be participating in the Chicago Pride Parade on Sunday, June 30th, 2019. We are excited to walk in the parade with other city officials to show our support for the LGBTQ+ community in Chicago.

COPA will provided a presentation to job trainees apart of the Jane Addams Resource Corporation  Austin Office to discuss the role our agency plays in police reform.

Join the 5th Ward Community Monthly Meeting and learn what’s going on in the ward from Ald. Leslie Hairston.  This event is open to the public and will be held at Augustana Lutheran Church located at 5500 S. Woodlawn – Chicago, IL.

COPA investigators will be on site to receive complaints and compliments of Chicago Police Officers. Also, the staff will address questions and provide an overview of the agency.

COPA will speak at the 37th Ward Community Meeting on police accountability. This is an opportunity for constituents to meet with COPA leadership staff and Alderman Mitts to learn about what’s going on in their ward. Attendees can also learn about COPA’s investigative process including how to report outcomes to the citizens we serve and how to reduce police misconduct.
