    Garfield Park Community Action Council (CAC) is hosting a meeting on Monday, January 8th from 12-1PM at Nia Family Center. There are several CACs across Chicago. Each works to empower the community they serve to lead the improvement of local quality education.  CAC members include parents; elected officials; faith-based institutions, health care and community-based organizations; Local School Council (LSC) members; business leaders; educators and school administrators; staff members from Chicago's Sister Agencies; community residents; and students.

  • Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities (TASC) Chatham Integrated Staffing Meetings

    TASC Chatham holds integrated staffing meetings twice a month for participants  to engage in dialogue on how to help returning citizens overcome barriers to re-entry, build capacity through networking with local and state community constituents and leaders, and communicate with other fellow TASC partnering agencies.

    COPA will be speaking at Plato Learning Academy Parents Meeting AM session on Thursday, January 18th.  Parents will attend this meeting to hear from their children teachers and administrative staff. Staff will discuss recent successes of the school and find solutions to academic, behavioral or community problems affecting the school and the children at Plato Learning Academy.

    COPA will visit Centro Comunitario Juan Diego to offer a bilingual presentation.  The remarks will include what is COPA, what is police accountability, what services COPA offer and provide an overview of our community outreach. COPA will also answer any questions from members of the audience.

  • 37th Ward Community Meeting

    COPA will speak at the 37th Ward Community Meeting on police accountability. This is an opportunity for constituents to meet with COPA leadership staff and Alderman Mitts to learn about what’s going on in their ward. Attendees can also learn about COPA's investigative process including how to report outcomes to the citizens we serve and how to reduce police misconduct.

  • ECAN Summer and Community Programs Resource Fair

    COPA will be a guest speaker at the NAACP Political Action Committee Meeting. The Political Action Committee researches and initiates legislation that deals with the Game Changers and educates NAACP members of pending and active legislation that affect the political, educational, social, and economic interests of minorities.

  • Bridging the Gap Between Law Enforcement & The Community

    The Chicago Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presents a panel discussion on ways law enforcement and the community can work together to have a better relationship and safer communities. Elected officials, community leaders and organizations are invited. CPD Commander Kevin Johnson of the 11TH Chicago Police District will be on hand as guest panelists. This event is in partnership with the Salvation Army Freedom Center, and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executive. Various topics will be discussed including local policing tactics and new technology; prevention and community based intervention programs; and community policing partnerships.
