Public Meeting of the Police Board
The Police Board holds a regular public meeting once a month. The Superintendent of Police (or his designee) and the Chief Administrator of the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (or her designee) will be at the meetings. Members of the public are invited to attend and are welcome to address questions or comments to the Board. Prior sign-up is required of those wishing to address the Board; to add your name to the list of speakers, please contact the Chicago Police Board’s office. The meetings are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Whether the meeting will be in person or via Zoom will be determined closer to each meeting date.

Halsted Street, Chicago, IL, United StatesThe Mayor’s Office of Community Engagement will host four public forums that will provide residents the opportunity to speak before members of the committee prior to the selection of the next Chief Administrator at the locations listed below from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm each night:
• August 17, 2021: Muslim Community Center – 4380 N Elston Ave, Chicago, IL 60641 (North Side)
• August 18, 2021: Garfield Park Golden Dome Field House – 100 N Central Park Ave, Chicago, IL 60624 (West Side)
• August 24, 2021: Kennedy King Community College – 6301 S Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60621 (South Side)
• August 26, 2021: Virtual Public Forum via Zoom
Members of the public can submit questions, comments, and thoughts about priorities for the position of Chief Administrator of COPA by emailing COPAsearch@cityofchicago.org if unable to attend any of the community engagement sessions.

COPA will be meeting with various city department agencies and community organizations to discuss effective ways of providing youth outreach and plan youth programming in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

COPA will share with criminal justice students investigative opportunities for an internship or career within the agency.

COPA will share with law students legal opportunities within the agency.

COPA Presentation at the CPD Citizens Academy
COPA's Interim Chief Administrator and the agency's Chief Public Information Officer will speak at the Chicago Police Department Citizens Academy on October 19, 2021. During the presentation, COPA will explain the agency's mission, discuss its commitment to enhancing the profession of policing and share how COPA’s role as a police oversight body advances policing and serves as a catalyst to building community trust. COPA engages residents in order to build trust, establish relationships, and engage in a conversation regarding police accountability and civilian oversight.

City of Chicago Community Safety Youth Town Hall
COPA will attend this resource fair and youth town hall to inform residents of Chicago about the agency role in police accountability. Residents specifically youth will also have an opportunity to hear from other city leaders and city departments to learn more about the city's effort to reduce violence and help make our neighborhoods safer.

COPA will participate in Mikva Challenge Juvenile Justice Council & Youth Safety Advisory Council that will offer interactive workshops and give young people the opportunity to share their ideas about policing and public policy.

Junior Achievement of Chicago Career Day at Addison Trail High School
Junior Achievement of Chicago is hosting several Career Days to help high school students make informed, intelligent decisions about their future, and foster skills that will be highly useful in the business world. Staff from COPA will participate in this Career Day to help students understand the role of COPA, the importance of police oversight, discuss ways youth can improve positive interactions with law enforcement and explain career paths.
