COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 9.5.22
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago at several community events during the week of 9.5.22. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council (BYNC) Mental Health Awareness Fair 9/7/22
COPA joined the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council (BYNC), the Chicago Department of Public Health and many community organizations to participate in a resource fair focused on mental health awareness. This free event offered the residents of this area community resources, fun activities, and food.
COPA Community Service Project: Bingo with Seniors 9/7/22
COPA has made an agency commitment to offer various community service projects for our staff. One of those efforts includes volunteering at the Department of Family and Support Services and Department of Aging West Town Senior Satellite Center. During our time at the office, COPA’s staff spent time engaging with senior citizens by playing bingo with them. This was our second time this year volunteering and we look forward to returning this month.
Mobile City Hall 9/8/22
COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office in the Bronzeville neighborhood along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this outreach event COPA in addition to various city departments were set up at resource tables to offer residents access to city services at this mobile event.
Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council (BYNC) Community Event 9/9/22
COPA joined Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council (BYNC) and the Chicago Department of Public Health to participate in a community resource fair. This free event offered the residents of this area community resources, fun activities and food.
16th Ward Monthly Meeting 9/10/22
COPA joined Alderwoman Stephanie Coleman and residents of Englewood, West Englewood, Gage Park and Chicago Lawn for her monthly ward meeting at Ombudsman South. COPA joined a list of valuable community partners including ComEd and People’s Gas as they discussed their ongoing work in the community while COPA gave a short presentation about the work of the agency and ways residents can utilize COPA’s services. First Deputy Chief Administrator Ephraim Eaddy answered questions from neighborhood residents and provided updates regarding several high profiles cases in the area.
Mexican Independence Day Parade 9/11/22
COPA participated in the 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade on Sunday, September 11th. It was a great time of excitement and celebration as we walked in the parade with other city officials to show our support for this event in Chicago.
