COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 9.26.22
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago at several community events during the week of 9.26.22. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. 24th Ward Public Safety Meeting 9/28/2022

On Wednesday, September 28, COPA joined Alderwoman Monique Scott (24), members of the Chicago Police Department, OEMC, and ShotSpotter to discuss public safety and ongoing initiatives aimed at violence prevention. The residents, most from the Lawndale neighborhood, offered great ideas on how members of the community can better engage with members of the police department and be better involved in neighborhood safety.

Mobile City Hall 9/29/22
COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office in the Albany Park neighborhood along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this outreach event COPA in addition to various city departments were set up at resource tables to offer residents access to city services at this mobile event.

Northwest Community Alliance Meeting 9/29/22
COPA met virtually with various city not-for-profit organizations to discuss community resources that can be offered to Hispanic communities in Chicago.

Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council End of the Summer Bash 9/30/22
COPA joined the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council (BYNC), the Chicago Department of Public Health and many community organizations to participate in a resource fair. BYNC has hosted several outdoor events in the communities of Brighton Park, McKinley Park and New City to connect people with various social services and city agencies that can be resourceful. The end of the summer bash will offer residents of this area community resources, music, fun activities, and food.
