COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 9.19.22
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago at several community events during the week of 9.19.22. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Nobel Neighbors 9/20/22
COPA connects each month with many community stakeholders and residents at this outreach event. Nobel Neighbors is a community-based organization which focuses on improving the quality of life for residents in Chicago’s West Humboldt Park area.

Mikva Challenge Virtual Town Hall 9/20/22
COPA joined Mikva Challenge virtually to participate in a town hall hosted by the CEO Vernee Green. The meeting was comprised of Mikva students and teachers for an interactive discussion about Mikva work, values, and mission plan.

Mobile City Hall 9/22/22
COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office in the Old Irving Park neighborhood along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this outreach event COPA in addition to various city departments were set up at resource tables to offer residents access to city services at this mobile event.

COPA Community Service Project – Clean & Green in North Lawndale 9/23/22
COPA has made an agency commitment to offer various community service projects for our staff. One of those efforts includes connecting with the city’s Department of Streets and Sanitation’s Clean & Green program to help clean and beautify various neighborhood lots in the city. Staff from COPA along with other city departments gathered brooms, rakes, shovels, and garbage bags and successfully picked up a ton of trash and cleaned a city lot in North Lawndale neighborhood.

COPA Community Presentation 9/23/22

COPA’s Director of Public Affairs Carlos Rivas presented at the Council for Opportunity in Education Conference on September 23rd. COE focuses on supporting students of color and low-income students succeed in college. Carlos presented about his career path to a career in public affairs.
