COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 9.18.23

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 9.18.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Nobel Neighbors Community Meeting – 9.19.23

Each month COPA looks forward to coming together and connecting with many community stakeholders and residents at this outreach event. This month was no different, which is why we attended the meeting hosted by Nobel Neighbors, a community-based organization that focuses on improving the quality of life for residents in Chicago’s West Humboldt Park area. At this community meeting COPA was able to talk to residents and help them understand our agency’s operations.

 

St. Sabina Employment Resource Center Fall Career & Resource Fair – 9.21.23

COPA participated in this career and resource fair held at St. Sabina Church to help the public better understand the agency’s mission. We also explained the importance of police oversight and informed the attendees of COPA’s current job openings.

  

South Shore Community Church Resource, Career & Fun Day – 9.23.23
COPA attended the South Shore Community Church Resource, Career & Fun Day on Saturday, September 23rd. At this outreach event, COPA was able to set up a resource table and talk to the public about our agency.

MSRN Community Summit & Resource Fair – 9.23.23

COPA attended the Marshall Square Resource Network (MSRN) Community Summit on Saturday, September 23rd to help educate the public on the agency role in police oversight. This event, which was hosted by Marshall Square Resource Network (MSRN) and Latinos Progresando took place at Maria Saucedo Scholastic Academy.

AETNA Fall Fest Health & Resource Fair – 9.24.23

COPA attended AETNA Fall Fest & Resource Fair in Auburn Gresham. At this outreach event COPA set up a resource table and shared our agency role in police misconduct with residents. This event was held at Thurgood Marshall Library on Sunday, September 24th.
