COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 9.12.22
COPA had a great time this week celebrating its agency five-year anniversary along with continuing to engage the residents of Chicago at several community events during the week of 9.12.22. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Leaders Network 9/13/22
COPA attended this month’s Leaders Network Meeting on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the Columbus Park Refectory. Faith-based leaders and community stakeholders come together monthly to better the west side through community action.
Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council Community Resource Fair 9/14/22
COPA joined the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council (BYNC), the Chicago Department of Public Health and many community organizations to participate in a resource fair. This free event offered the residents of this area community resources, fun activities, and food.
COPA 5-Year Agency Anniversary Celebration 9/16/22
On Friday, September 16th, COPA held a 5-Year Agency Anniversary Celebration at the Harold Washington Library Winter Garden. Nearly 250 people were in attendance at this celebration which included dignitaries, community leaders and COPA staff. COPA was created in 2017 to serve as the police oversight agency. This year the agency focused its commemoration on five years of reform, transparency, and progress.
Mobile City Hall 9/17/22
COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office in the West Englewood neighborhood along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this outreach event COPA in addition to various city departments were set up at resource tables to offer residents access to city services at this mobile event.
