Leaders Network Monthly Meeting 8/9

COPA attended this month’s Leaders Network Meeting on Tuesday August 9, 2022 at the Columbus Park Refectory. Faith-based leaders and community stakeholders come together monthly to better the west side through community action. Today’s meeting included Congressman Danny K. Davis and Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans.

LUCHA & Playstreets Block Party 8/9

COPA was invited to the1400 N Washtenaw Block Party to provide residents with resources. PlayStreets through the Chicago Department of Public Health has been an amazing way to connect with Chicagoans block by block! Two of our Case Liaisons joined the Public Affairs team for this event. Case Liaisons support complainants throughout the complaint process from intake to case closure.

City Colleges of Chicago Adult Education Community Leaders Breakfast 8/10

COPA joined the City Colleges of Chicago Adult Education program for a Community Leaders Breakfast. The event allowed us to connect with community partners to plan collaboration this fall. The Adult Education program provides GED, ESL and other non-credit based training for adults across Chicago.

Beat 1421 Meeting at Humboldt Park Library 8/10

COPA attended the Beat 1421 meeting at the Humboldt Park Library. Beat Meetings happen bi-monthly across all police districts. The meetings allow Chicago residents to understand crime occurring on the blocks near them and provides an opportunity for residents to partner with police to reduce crime.

Rotary International Six Corners Chapter Induction Ceremony 8/11

COPA was invited to attend the Rotary International Six Corners Chapter Induction Ceremony on August 11, 2022. Rotary Six Corners Chapter is a new partnership COPA has made to help more Chicagoans understand who we are as an agency and ally in Chicago.

Mikva Challenge State of Chicago Youth Address 8/12

COPA attended the Mikva Challenge State of Chicago Youth Address on August 12, 2022. The event provided an opportunity for Chicago’s youth to make recommendations to better Chicago based on their research over the summer. Some of the recommendations related to COPA’s work in Chicago and we are eager to continue to work with Mikva Challenge youth to bring their ideas to fruition.

CPS Back to School Bash at Finkl Elementary School 8/12

On Friday August 12, 2022 COPA partnered with the Chicago Public Schools for a Back to School Bash at Finkl Elementary School in Pilsen. The event brought together hundreds of families for back-to-school backpacks and resources. The event even included live student mariachi band from Benito Juarez High School and fun activities for kids. This event was extra special for COPA because we gave away the second batch of school supplies donated by COPA staff. This included hundreds of items like notebooks, glue, colored pencils, and pencil pouches.
