COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 8.28.23
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 8.28.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Chicago Treasurer Office BWTT Resource Fair – 8.28.23
COPA attended the Chicago Treasurer BWTT (Building Wealth for Tomorrow) Resource Fair held at Daley Plaza. This community event was comprised of city agencies, community organizations, banking institutions and NPHC D9 Local Greeks all sharing with residents the resources that they offer.
City Clerk Mobile City Hall Community Resource Fair at Foster Park – 8.29.23
COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this mobile outreach event, COPA had a resource table and shared with the public the agency’s role in police accountability.
Northwest Chicago Community Alliance Meeting – 8.31.23
COPA met with various not-for-profit organizations to discuss community resources available for Hispanic communities in Chicago. This month meeting was held at the Birth to Five Illinois Regional Office. During the meeting the presenters from the organization communicated on all the work they are doing in the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois to support the mobilization of communities to build and sustain equitable access to inclusive, high-quality early childhood services for all children and their families.
Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) Monthly Meeting – 8.31.23
The Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) hosted its monthly community meeting to discuss updates to its agency and listen to reports from other city departments and residents.
Centro Comunitario Juan Diego Health Fair – 9.1.23
COPA attended Centro Comunitario Juan Diego Mini Health Fair in South Chicago. At this outreach event, COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency role in police misconduct.
Cook County Community Health Fair – 9.1.23
COPA attended this Cook County Health Fair in Little Village. At this outreach event COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency role in police misconduct.
