COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 8.22.22

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago at several community events during the week of 8.22.22. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Mobile City Hall 8/23

COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office in the Avondale Park neighborhood along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this outreach event COPA in addition to various city departments were set up at resource tables to offer residents access to city services at this mobile event.

Near North Health Community Resource Fair 8/24

COPA attended the Department of Family Support Services (DFSS) Community Resource Fair at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Center in Bronzeville. COPA along with various organizations from the Bronzeville, Kenwood and Oakland communities were present to share resources. Attendees at this free event were offered health screenings, job development assistance, record expungement, school supplies and food.

At this outreach event COPA in addition to various city departments were set up at resource tables to offer residents access to city services at this mobile event.

COPA Community Service Project – Clean & Green in Englewood 8/26

COPA has made an agency commitment to offer various community service projects for our staff. One of those efforts includes connecting with the city’s Department of Streets and Sanitation’s Clean & Green program to help clean and beautify various neighborhood lots in the city. Staff from COPA along with Mayor’s Office of People with Disabilities (MOPD) gathered brooms, rakes, shovels, and garbage bags and successfully picked up a ton of trash and cleaned a city lot in Englewood.

Family Focus Nuestra Familia Resource Fair 8/26

COPA attended the Family Focus Nuestra Familia Resource Fair in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood. At this community resource fair families were able to learn more about COPA and also the services, agencies and resources of over a dozen other organizations.
