COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 7.10.23

 

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 7.10.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Centro Comunitario Juan Diego Resource Fair – 7.10.23

 

COPA attended Centro Comunitario Juan Diego Resource Fair in South Chicago on July 10, 2023. At this outreach event, COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency role in police misconduct.

 

The Leaders Network Monthly Community Meeting – 7.11.23

 

COPA attended The Leaders Network monthly community meeting in Austin. We are proud partners of the Leaders Network, an organization comprised of faith & community leaders working together to improve west side communities.

 

Lyon’s Summer Fest Resource Fair – 7.13.23

 

COPA attended Lyon’s Summer Fest Resource Fair on Thursday, July 13th at Mary Lyon Field (2900 N. McVicker Avenue). At this outreach event, COPA set up a resource table and shared with the public the agency role in police oversight.  This event offered the public access to community resources, a health van, car show contest, music, food, fun activities, performances, and a bouncy house.

 

CCPSA Special Public Meeting to Vote on CPD Superintendent Finalists – 7.13.23

 

COPA attended the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA) special public meeting held on July 13, 2023. The purpose of the meeting was held to vote on the finalists for Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department (CPD).   The Commission invited all members of the public to attend the meeting and participate in the historic decision-making process where three finalists were selected to be next Superintendent.

 

City Clerk Mobile City Hall Community Resource Fair – 7.15.23

 

COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this mobile outreach event, COPA had a resource table and shared with the public the agency’s role in police accountability.
