COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 6.5.23

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 6.5.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. National Louis University Spring 2023 Hiring Fair – 6.6.23

COPA participated in this spring hiring fair held at National Louis University to share with students’ public safety careers open at our agency. We also shared attendees’ information on jobs they can apply for through the One Summer Chicago program.

City Clerk Mobile City Hall Community Resource Fair- 6.6.23

COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office in the Rogers Park neighborhood along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this mobile outreach event COPA had a resource table and shared with the public the agency role in police oversight.

COPA’s Clean & Green in Humboldt Park – 6.9.23

COPA has made an agency commitment to offer various community service projects for our staff. One of those efforts includes connecting with the city’s Department of Streets and Sanitation’s Clean & Green program to help clean and beautify various neighborhood lots and parks in the city. COPA partnered with New Life Centers Humboldt Park Church, Noble Neighbors, and CAPS 11 to clean Harding Park.

Beloved Community Bash – 6.9.23

COPA attended the Beloved Community Bash where many organizations were present including New Life Centers Humboldt Park Church, Noble Neighbors, CAPS 11, and the Office of State Representative Lilian Jiménez. This community event included pony rides, a petting zoo, food, and ice cream.
