COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 6.26.23

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 6.26.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. City Clerk Mobile City Hall Community Resource Fair – 6.27.23

COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this mobile outreach event held at La Follette Park in the Austin neighborhood, COPA in addition to various city departments set up resource tables and provided residents access to city services.

Northwest Community Alliance Monthly Meeting – 6.27.23

COPA met with various not-for-profit organizations to discuss community resources that can be offered to Latino communities in Chicago.

CCPSA (Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability) Monthly Meeting – 6.29.23

COPA attended the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) monthly meeting. COPA’s Chief Administrator Andrea Kersten presented an updated on our agency goals and our Timeliness Initiative. While at the meeting staff from COPA was also able to listen to the community share concerns over various policing issues and policies in the city.
