COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 5.29.23
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 5.29.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. City Clerk Mobile City Hall Community Resource Fair- 5.31.23
COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this mobile outreach event COPA in addition to various city departments set up resource tables and provided residents access to city services.
Westside Ministers’ Coalition Community Meeting – 6.1.23
COPA attended the Westside Ministers’ Coalition (WMC) monthly community meeting. This organization mission is to provide services that will initiate self-help efforts to improve the Austin community of Chicago in areas of housing, public safety, reentry, clergy involvement, education, health, energy, conservation, community, youth, and economic development. WMC works in cooperation with other organizations sharing similar values that are aligned with their mission.
Summer Celebration Family Resource Fair at Stowe Elementary School – 6.2.23
COPA attended a Summer Celebration Resource Fair hosted by 26th Ward Ald. Fuentes, Rep. Jimenez, and Senator Aquino. At this outreach event, COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency role in police misconduct with students, staff, and parents at this school in addition to residents in the area.
