COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 5.15.23

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 5.15.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Nobel Neighbors Community Meeting- 5.16.23

Each month COPA looks forward to coming together and connecting with many community stakeholders and residents at this outreach event. This month was no different, which is why we attended the meeting hosted by Nobel Neighbors, a community-based organization that focuses on improving the quality of life for residents in Chicago’s West Humboldt Park area.

New Life Centers Brighton Park Food Distribution Community Event– 5.16.23

COPA attended the New Life Centers Brighton Park Food Distribution community event to tell residents about our agency. Residents that attended this event were able to learn about community services and receive fresh produce from the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Career Day at Suder Montessori – 5.17.23

COPA’s Director of Investigations participated in this Career Day to help students understand the role of COPA, the importance of police oversight, and discuss ways youth can improve positive interactions with law enforcement and explain career paths.

Career Day at Butler College Prep – 5.19.23

COPA’s Director of Public Affairs Carlos Rivas Jr. participated in this Success Looks Like Me Career Day to help students understand the role of COPA, the importance of police oversight, and discuss ways youth can improve positive interactions with law enforcement and explain career paths.

City Clerk Mobile City Hall Community Event 5.20.23

COPA joined Anna Valencia City Clerk Office along with various other city departments and sister agencies to connect with the community. At this mobile outreach event COPA in addition to various city departments set up resource tables and provided residents access to city services.
