COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 4.24.23

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 4.24.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. COPA Host Officials from Republic of Georgia – 4.27.23

COPA partnered with the International Visitor Leadership Program (ILVP), U.S. Department of State Exchange Programs, World Chicago, and Meridian International Center to host officials from the Republic of Georgia. These representatives were interested in learning about civilian oversight and COPA’s mediation pilot program.

CCPSA (Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability) Monthly Meeting – 4.27.23

COPA attended the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) monthly meeting. Staff from COPA was able to listen to the community share concerns over various policing issues and policies in the city.

COPA attended Centro Comunitario Juan Diego Health Fair in South Chicago. At this outreach event COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency role in police misconduct.
