COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 4.10.23

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 4.10.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Leaders Network Community Meeting- 4.11.23

COPA attended this month’s Leaders Network Community Meeting at the Columbus Park Refectory. Faith-based leaders and community stakeholders gather each month to discuss ways to better the west side through community action.

Oak Street Health Senior Fair – 4.11.23

COPA attended Oak Street Health Senior Fair. At this outreach event, COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency role in police misconduct with senior citizens in the area.

CCPSA Community Forum on CPD Superintendent Search – 4.11.23

COPA attended the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) CPD Superintendent Search Forum, which was held at Kehrein Center for the Arts. This was the first of four community forums held as part of the search for Chicago’s next police superintendent. Attendees at the meeting were able to share their views on the qualifications and experience they want to see in Chicago’s next superintendent.

Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) Health Fair – 4.12.23

COPA attended the Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) Health Fair. At this outreach event, COPA was able to set up a resource table and share its agency role in police misconduct with college students on campus.

 

New Life Centers Food Distribution – 4.12.23

COPA attended the New Life Centers Food Distribution community event in Humboldt Park to tell residents about our agency and help pass out food. Hundreds of residents attended the event to learn about a variety of community services and to receive fresh produce from the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

 

Axon Accelerate Conference – 4.13.23

COPA’s Chief Administrator Andrea Kersten was on a panel discussion at the Axon Accelerate Conference, which was held in Phoenix, AZ. This national conference brings together public safety practitioners, both civilian & sworn, to explore the latest technology and best practices.
